Waste of time and money Sep 10, 2011
By farmersam This seemed like a good way to connect an external HD with only firewire connection to a laptop with only USB. Doesn't work. At least it didn't cost much.

DO NOT BUY Mar 12, 2012
By creechey Just trying to put this out there for anyone who thinks this little chunk of plastic and metal is ever going to work:
USB and FireWire are two completely different architectures. There is NO POSSIBLE WAY to connect a FireWire device to a USB port.
The companies in China will make anything. I once encountered an AV installer who was trying to use a cheap adapter to go from a DVI-D connector to a VGA port. The conversion simply isn't possible, which I proved to him when I sliced the connector open and showed him the missing wires to the R/G/B pins.

Came quickly:Does not adapt as the name applies Jan 05, 2012
By drgranite I purchased this Firewire to USB adapter to connect a harddrive to my computer via USB instead of Firewire. Plugs seem right, but when I connect it to my Apple computer it does not work. I am very disappointed!

Doesn't work!!!! Feb 19, 2012
By B Firewire Ieee 1394 6 Pin Male to Male USB 2.0 Plug AdapterIt doesn't work and the most unfortunate part is they know it doesn't. That's why that send a coupon with it for 10% off your next purchase from the company but why would I purchase anything from a company that I know sells items to their customers that they know is a horrible product? Don't want any of your BS even if it's discounted BS. This item was good enough for my disount junk collection thanks! I think they're just trying to get it out of their stock so instead of chalking up as a loss they choose to sell it anyway which in the long run will be an even bigger lost because they're losing the most important thing which are customers. I buy stuff from Amazon a least once a week and it's the first time I've had an issue or made a review. First time for everything thanks again cellular factory!
