Be careful with Dimensions Dec 22, 2008
By jules

I purchased this and does not fit even though I checked the dimesions. The dimensions are for the outside of the case and do not account for almost 1 inch on each side for the inner guard. Make sure to deduct almost 2" in your dimensions if you want to fit.

No Dimensions! Sep 25, 2010
By rwong There are no dimensions on this web page! I found the same product on a different web site, but their dimensions were wrong. When I received my order, I found it way too small for my thermostat. Here are the actual exterior dimensions: 7.5" W x 6.5" H x 2.75" D

Works fairly well - needed modification for additional ventilation Jan 20, 2011
By Ashok Aiyar I bought this thermostat guard to cover our Honeywell RTH7500D Thermostat. It's very easy to install and fits the Thermostat perfectly. After installation, we noticed that the thermostat didn't detect changes in temperature very effectively, and therefore didn't turn on and off as expected.
For example, in the heating cycle, our thermostat was set to 70 degrees, and when covered by the thermostat guard would continue to detect a temperature of 70 degrees even when the room temperature dropped to 65 degrees.
Thinking this might result from insufficient air circulation around the thermostat, I cut one inch diameter holes in the thermostat guard - 2 in each side, 3 in top, and 2 in the bottom. With these additional "ventilation" holes, the thermostat turns on and off as it did before I put the guard on.
I've uploaded an image of the thermostat guard as installed with the holes cut in it. It is very difficult to fiddle with the thermostat settings through the holes, so cutting the holes hasn't affected the function of the thermostat guard.
So, if your thermostat doesn't work as expected after installing a thermostat guard, you can improve the situation by cutting a few holes in the guard - the acrylic/Lexan is thick enough to be cut without cracking.

Great Product Jan 20, 2008
By Ken Treybig This is exactly what we were looking for--locking thermostat covers to keep a better handle on our utilities expenses. The product description was accurate, the price was great, and installation was simple. We're extremely pleased.

Wrong dimentions Jan 22, 2011
By paul The dimentions given under the product description are the dimentions of the package. the product itself is a few inches smaller. I had to return it. Otherwise the product itself is of high quality and would have been given 5 stars.
