well worth it! Dec 08, 2009
By Robert Zielazinski
"Tulsa Yankee"
The ENTIRE set up process was:
1. plug in Netgear adapter next to router (into wall socket, NOT surge strip) 2. Connect (supplied) patch cable to router 3. plug Netgear adapter into socket next to wife's machine 4. connect (supplied) patch cable to computer
Result - domestic tranquility restored - beloved no longer has to log into wireless network, and the connection is noticeably faster than the wireless! I am a fan!
Details: We received a wireless router as part of our ISP's setup, and I had installed a wireless adapter/card into my wife's desktop in the kitchen. This saved me the aggravation of getting into the crawl space and running some Ethernet cable.
I really, really wish I had seen this Netgear equipment before I got the wireless card. Wireless signals WILL go around big chunks of sheet metal like a refrigerator and microwave - which are between her machine and my router, but performance really suffers. :-( The powerline connection is much faster, and was a lot easier to set up than the installation of the wireless card in a desktop was.
