Part of many steps to make X10 work Dec 25, 2010
By RW I purchased an X10 setup of software, controller, and a few light switches, appliance relays, etc. They only worked a very short distance. Adding the Smarthome Booster Linc Helped extend the range most, but interference or suckout from the "Prime" surge protector on my home theater system still prevented operation of devices near it, so I added the Smarthome FilterLinc to the HT system and now most everything works. However adding a laptop to the same room has interfered with one switch. So another Filterlinc may be needed for it. Bottom line is this device helps, but genernerally would fault the X10 system as having very reasonable priced switches but require expensive devices such as the Booster and Filters to make the system work.

Simple solution to HomePlug interference Dec 14, 2011
By Robert M. Boyd After identifying a noise source using a process of elimination, I found myself in need of a device that would filter out this unwanted signal. After some searching, through Amazon and elsewhere, I found this product while searching for HomePlug (Powerline networking) interference filters.
Needless to say, this device works brilliantly for eliminating noise sources that impede HomePlug networking. Simply plug device that you've identified as a "noise source" into the receptacle on the bottom of the module and plug the FilterLinc into the electrical outlet. Couldn't be simpler.
While not the most cost effective solution if you have multiple devices that require filtration, it is, however, one of the few proven solutions out there.

Works well for me Aug 13, 2011

I have used X-10 products for years and with all of the new hi-tech electronics out I was getting line noise causing my X-10 switches to not work. I had to put in about 6 of these filters to finally solve my problems. The UPS's were the last items that needed the filter and now I am back to running smoothly again.

Solved my Insteon communication errors Dec 29, 2011
By HayWire I have a fairly large insteon setup in my home. I was getting a lot of errors communicating from my ISY-99i to a few of the insteon switches. The communication errors were random. The ISY-99i is on the same circuit that my computer UPS is plugged in to. After some research, I found out that computer UPS devices absorb a lot of the insteon signals. After putting this on the UPS, all my troubles were gone! No more communication errors, and a flawless home automation system.
It seems to work okay May 23, 2012

I use two of these line filters on our two wireless intercoms to filter out some line noise. That type of intercom runs by connecting through the wiring in your residence and is heavily affected by electrical interference. Our intercoms are far apart and on different busy circuits.
The noise filters do clean up the line and improve the sound quality... a little. I realize that for other applications the positive results are much greater.
I am content with my purchase. I kinda like the idea of cleaning up the electricity that goes into my devices, although I can't really tell you why. If the price per unit was lower I would buy several more and connect them to all my TVs and DVRs.
