This high-tech yet easy to use appliance module lets you control outdoor plug-in devices wirelessly from any INSTEON-compatible controller. Use a wall keypad, handheld remote or even a computer or mobile phone. The ApplianceLinc simply plugs into an outlet and your outdoor lighting and appliances plug into it. Once installed, link it to an INSTEON-compatible controller using a simple Plug-n-Tap programming. With high-end quality and remote controllability, you'll see how easy it is to create your own smart home. INSTEON is a low-cost home control technology that uses both the existing electrical wires in the home and radio-frequency to communicate. From lighting, appliance and thermostat control to integrated security systems, INSTEON allows you to manage your home the way you want - from a handheld remote, wall keypad, computer or web-enabled device like a smart phone. Easy to install and set up, INSTEON offers the flexibility and dependability to make life more convenient, safe and energy efficient. Note: The ApplianceLinc uses power line for its communication. When being controlled from an RF-only device such as a RemoteLinc, be sure to have at least one Access Point or dual-band device installed. These convert RF signals to power line and vice versa. This plug-in switch can control appliances up to 15 Amps and incandescent loads up to 1800 Watts; if you need to control a dimmable version, try the LampLinc Dimmer.

Love the Insteon Line -- very dependable on/off, no miscues like X10 -- this improves by providing a weather hardened outside controller for my Insteon collection. I use this for a large pond pump (11,000 GPH), saving significant dollars by shutting it off overnight -- this also gives me easy on off anytime, along with my Pond lighting.

I use two of these for controlling outdoor landscape lighting transformers and set them on a schedule using an ISY-99 Insteon controller to turn them on at sunset and off after midnight. They work great so far (after several months of use). Hopefully they'll hold up in the heavy summer rains here in Florida... ;)

I use these for controlling the low-voltage landscape lights, therefore not needing the transformer to have a timer or photocell. Built well, sealed well. And fits nicely inside the Hinckley transformer I bought for the front yard.
