Works great, no issues. Jun 28, 2011
By david I've been using two of these to control a bathroom light and vent fan and they work great. They work consistently and I've had no issues with them at all. There is another review where someone tried to use it with an X-10 system. I made some attempts to use X-10 with other devices, and gave up because it's unreliable in general. As long as you're using this for Insteon control, it should work just fine. My only complaint is Smarthome Insteon products are overpriced and they apparently don't allow 3rd party retailers to sell them for less than the list price.

In-LineLinc Relay - INSTEON On / Off Module (Non-dimming) w/ Sense Sep 12, 2009

Let me start by saying the vendor SmartHome is excellent even when there are problems. This particular module didn't work well within my existing X10 system.
I was tired of buying X10 modules that went bad after a few months to a couple of years. I have a whole box full of bad X10 modules that I have bought over the last 20 years. I thought the Insteon system looked good because it would allow a gradual switch from the unreliable X10 system to Insteon.
I tried using this item mounted withing a fluorescent fixture to replace the X10 fixture module that had stopped working after 6 months of good performance.
The first Insteon module I received worked 1/2 the time and the rest of the time it required multiple presses of the X10 button because it would shut itself off after about 1 second. Usually it would stay on after the 3rd press of the button. One time it wouldn't stay on even after 14 button presses. I gave up and opened the curtains so I could see.
A call to SmartHome connected me to a polite and knowledgeable person. He suggested we cross ship a replacement and he e-mailed me a return label that would be paid for by SmartHome.
The 2nd module didn't work any better.
Another call to SmartHome connected me with a different, and very nice person that suggested using filter to isolate the fluorescent electrical noise from the Insteon module.
This filter didn't help at all.
Finally, I had to give up on using Insteon and returned everything then bought a Leviton X10 fixture module from SmartHome. It worked perfectly. I am hoping that the Leviton module will be more reliable than the X10 modules.
Again, SmartHome is an excellent company. The Insteon modules seem to have problems working in a mixed X10/Insteon system. I wound up talking with 4 SmartHome support people and all of them were polite and knowledgeable.
