Phase coupler for x10 system worked fine for me Apr 02, 2010
By David McBride This is a product review for SIGNALINC PLUG-IN PHASE COUPLER (FOR 3-WIRE 220V DRYERS) a simple phase coupler for use with x10 systems where your x10 switches are on different sides of your 220 volt primary line. (This results in appliances or lamps not responding to your x10 push buttons that are on the opposite side.) My coupler purchased from Amazon.com bridges or connects the two sides, keeping them separate for the 110 volt currents, but allowing a high frequency connection for the x10 signals. It does not require an electrician for installation, but simply plugs in between your 220 volt socket the the dryer plug (for an electric dryer). This product has worked very well for me, and even survived a serious electrical surge from the electric company without failing. There may be better products on the market, but for me, it rates 5 stars.

Works as expected Jan 07, 2011

I purchased this unit ($30) in the hopes to solve a couple of X10 problems that I didn't used to have. This unit was intended to replace the exact same model that I purchased in 2004. This new unit did not solve my issues. I firmly believe my 2004 unit was still working fine so I will keep this new one as a backup. But at least now I can troubleshoot as to if my older coupler is still working as it should when new issues arise. I should mention that since I purchased this device in 2004 it solved issues I was having of not always being able to get the X10 signals at a couple locations throughout my small home. I think my unresolved issues are due to the switches being 20 plus years old.

useful but not up to current code Aug 10, 2011
By Peter Shipley This is useful if you can't install SignaLinc Hardwired Phase Coupler, and have old out of date wiring.
Problem is that it has a three prong 220v connector plug, where as the current electrical code requires four prong plug ( including replacing old three prong cords on older appliances )
