Garbage Feb 19, 2012
By Jack Tester I ordered three of these along with some other gear as my first foray into X10 home automation. I've installed it all, and now I will painstakingly uninstall it all and ship it to the highest bidder on ebay. This is absolute mickeymouse garbage. Regardless of the actual X10 functionality, the fit, finish, and feel of the switch is a joke. You will be embarrassed (I hope) to have your parents over, have guests, or see your wife's reaction when she presses the button on this thing. Some specifics: It looks like a rocker switch, but it's not. That's fake. It's a PRETEND rocker. Really. That stupid. Instead, it's on a spongy awkward spring that sometimes presses a button, and sometimes triggers the dimmer function. When you press it, the following happens: 35% of the time: nothing. But you'll get this spongy goofy feel from it to raise your blood pressure 20%: nothing, plus a corner of the fake rocker switch will jam under the switch housing until you press the opposite corner to pop it out 10%: the lights will turn on - kinda as you intended.. except they will fade in. Real nice and romantic, when you want to grab a pair of underwear out of the closet and get out the door. 25%: the lights will come on at a super dim setting.. so you can readjust/set the entire thing again 10%: the lights will come on and fade out and turn off I wish they would charge double and make something with some level of pride or craftsmanship
